A significant milestone at St’ Joseph’s Primary School.

In response to the dire need for accessible ablution facilities, the Ministry of Education & Training (MOET) has partnered with the MTN Foundation and Micro Projects to deliver a fully equipped facility tailored to the needs of the learners, including wheelchair-bound students. The school has an enrolment of 390 students of which about 30 are wheelchair bound.
The Ministry of Education and Training’s Principal Secretary, Bheki Gama officially handed over the new ablution facility to St. Josephs Primary School in a ribbon-cutting ceremony, citing the importance of having a safe, sanitized, and accessible facility to ensure that every student, including those with disabilities, can use the facilities comfortably and with dignity. This initiative is a part of the MTN Foundation’s commitment to Invest in Education, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Training, aimed at improving schools’ infrastructure. The facility has 8 standard toilets, and 3 disabled’s toilets segmented for both genders. The facility is an investment of E1.25 million which will benefit generations to come.
School Principal Ms. Magagula, on behalf of the school, expressed her profound appreciation to the Ministry of Education and Training, MTN, and Micro Projects for their support in building the facility. The event was made even more special by student representatives who shared their gratitude through a heartfelt poem. At MTN, we pride ourselves on creating shared value in the communities we serve.
